This is what we found for the fishing lake.
Unbelievable!
Once we realized that we couldn't really fish in the lake AND that we were on the wrong end of the park to see the rock we had to turn all the way around and head down this road :)
Once we got off Poetown Rd and on our way we made it to Pinnacle Rock.
If you know Matt you know that there was no way he was going to settle for 'just seeing' the rock. We had to find a way to get to the top. We started on the trail; or so we thought, to take us to the top and found ourselves going all the way around behind and to the bottom of the rock which then lead us right back up to the side and around to where we had begun (We missed the sign that lead us to the top). Meanwhile there was thunder in the distance and the sky was growing black. We decided we could make it to the top and down before it started to rain; bad idea. Up we went the trail where it then began to rain so we moved over to take cover under a rock. When it began to POUR we moved further under the rock but then decided to make a run for it, so down we went in the pouring rain to wait it out. When it finally let up we made our way back up the trail to the top of Pinnacle Rock for a beautiful view of the mountains; which, again if you know Matt he did not settle for 'just seeing' he was the adventurous man that he is and went OFF the path to climb the rock and scare the $&#! out of me. But that is why I love him, he's adventuresome and helps me to face some of my fears and do more than I would on my own. (I will post pictures of the views and the rock climber when we get back to Nashville because we took them with our camera and I forgot the cord to load them on the computer.) On our decent
we encountered Matt's favorite creature.......
a deer! That was really neat!
After our adventures at Pinnacle Rock we headed towards the city of Beckley; again the downtown was EMPTY and BARREN so we drove up the highway and visited the local attraction 'Tamarack Local Artisan Shops' and then had lunch. We then drove to the recommended town of Pipestem and Pipestem State Park which was Gorgeous. Along the way we saw some pretty funny sights including this car at the 'New Car' Dealership
Gotta love a 'New Car' classic :)
Pipestem was beautiful but the pictures will never do it justice.
We took many more pictures with our camera that I will upload soon.
We ended up exploring Pipestem the rest of the afternoon and then returned to Bluefield for the night. Today's adventures started to be as crazy as yesterdays but they ended up much better. Tomorrow we will head back to Nashville, but I am sure we will be making a stop at a Bass Pro Shop or Cabelas along the way.
